Definition
Liquid chlorine is sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) solution, typically sold at 10–12.5% available chlorine for pool use (compared to 5–8.25% for household bleach). It is the most widely used chlorine product for pool maintenance: fast-dissolving, no residue, does not raise calcium or CYA, and relatively inexpensive. Degradation: liquid chlorine loses approximately 20–30% potency within 60 days at room temperature and significantly faster in heat. Always buy fresh product and check the manufacture date.
