Problem Entity

Cloudy Water

Water that lacks clarity due to suspended particles, chemical imbalance, or filtration issues.

Definition

Cloudy water can result from low free chlorine (allowing algae or bacteria to proliferate), pH or alkalinity out of range (causing precipitation or flocculation), calcium carbonate precipitation (scaling, especially after shock), high TDS, poor filtration (pump run time too low, dirty filter, inadequate turnover), or dissolved metals. The remedy depends on the cause. Start by testing all parameters, correcting chemistry, and running the filter continuously until clarity returns. Clarifier can help coagulate fine particles for the filter to capture.
