Stabilizer / CYA Granules
Granular cyanuric acid product used to raise CYA to the target stabilizer level.
Definition
Pool stabilizer (cyanuric acid granules) is added to outdoor pools at the start of the season to raise CYA to the target range (30–50 ppm for standard pools, 60–80 ppm for salt pools). It dissolves slowly — place in a nylon sock and hang in front of a return jet, or pre-dissolve in warm water. Allow 24–48 hours before retesting. Never add to an indoor pool or covered spa. Stabilizer is also added gradually by routine use of trichlor tablets.
