Definition pH increaser is a pool product that raises water pH, typically sodium carbonate (soda ash) or sodium bicarbonate.
🎯
Typical Values: Raises pH by approximately 0.2 per pound per 10,000 gallons; dissolve before adding

In Plain Language

pH increaser (soda ash) is used when pool pH falls below 7.2. Sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) raises pH quickly with a modest alkalinity increase. Sodium bicarbonate raises alkalinity primarily and pH secondarily — it is used when both need raising. Pre-dissolve in water before adding to the pool to prevent white cloudiness. Add near the return jets with the pump running and retest after 2–4 hours.

Why It Matters

Low pH (below 7.2) reduces chlorine comfort, corrodes surfaces, and irritates swimmers. Prompt correction with pH increaser is important.
