In Plain Language

Clarifiers contain polyelectrolyte compounds that cause fine particles (which would otherwise pass through the filter) to aggregate into larger clusters that the filter can capture. They work best when the filter is functioning correctly and pool chemistry is in balance. Using clarifier without correcting the underlying chemistry issue (typically low FC or high pH) will only temporarily improve clarity.

Why It Matters

Clarifier is effective for polishing water after chemistry has been corrected but is ineffective as a standalone treatment.
